Full, Light or free?
Cashier
Opens a POS session as an employee, clocks attendance, requests leave.
Warehouse picker
Barcode receipts, picks and counts. Cannot create products or edit stock settings.
Shift worker or field technician
Sees their own shifts in Planning, fills worksheets, submits expenses, reads procedures in Knowledge.
Employee, no login
Exists in the Employees app for payroll or attendance. Counted as Light from Odoo 20.
Salesperson, buyer, accountant
Any right in Sales, CRM, Purchase, Accounting or Project makes the user Full, even for own documents only.
Supervisor or manager
Approves the leave, expenses or timesheets of others. Approving is a Full-user job.
Customer or supplier
Sees their own invoices, orders and tickets through the portal. No change.
Older Odoo versions
Light Users exist only from Odoo 20. On 18 or 19 every login is a full user and no-login records are not charged.
How the number is built
Today (Odoo 19 rules)
Every login is a full user. Employee records without a login are free.
Odoo 20 rules
Full users are unchanged. Qualifying staff and employee records without a login are billed as Light Users.
First-year discount
It covers the first 12 months of initial users only. The 3-year view prices year 1 at the discount and years 2–3 at list. Light Users have no discount.
Renewals
Existing contracts are reported to renew with an increase capped at 7% a year until they reach list price. Users added mid-term pay the current list price.

Hosting, implementation, support and taxes are separate.
